Frogs Start their Lives in Water

froghabitat.jpg

Frogs start their lives in water.  When Samantha’s dad collected the eggs from Grove Pond, he also collected some of the water.  Water is important to the tadpoles when they hatch because they don’t have lungs yet.  The frogs breathe through gills just like a fish.  We tried to make our aquarium look like a small pond.  We put some large rocks and some sticks in the aquarium.  The rocks will give the tadpoles a place to hide when they hatch.
